A woman named Favour Nweke was arrested and paraded by the Rivers State Police Command for a horrific act. Favour Nweke reportedly bathed her husband, Ekelediri Nwokekoro, with scalding hot groundnut oil following a quarrel.

The incident occurred in Okehi, Etche Local Government Area of the state, and has sent shockwaves through the community and beyond. Favour Nweke was paraded at the police headquarters along Moscow Road in Port Harcourt, where she confessed to the heinous crime.

According to her account, her husband’s recent strange behavior led to the squabble that culminated in the horrifying act. She claimed that his behavior was connected to a crime he had committed with some friends.

The housewife stated that her husband would leave the house late at night and return in the early morning hours, sometimes staying away for two or three days at a time. She became suspicious and confronted him about his strange activities and alleged involvement in criminal activities.

Favour Nweke explained that the breaking point came when she was informed by one of her husband’s friends about their involvement in an illegal act. According to her, they had duped someone of N20 million by promising a contract in Etche, and this revelation shocked her.

When her husband returned home, she confronted him about the allegations. A heated argument ensued, and during the altercation, her husband hit her. In her distress, she ran into the kitchen, grabbed a pot of hot groundnut oil, and poured it on him, causing severe burns.

The housewife denied allegations of extramarital affairs and pleaded for forgiveness, expressing deep remorse for her actions. She claimed that she had no intention of causing such harm and suffering to her husband.

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Emeka Nwonyi, assured the public that the suspect would be prosecuted and face the consequences of her actions. He emphasized that taking the law into one’s own hands is unacceptable and will be met with legal sanctions.

This disturbing incident serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing conflicts and issues through peaceful means, and it highlights the severe consequences that can result from impulsive and violent actions.
