Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, is currently holding a private meeting with the state’s elders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Anaedoonline.ng is aware that the meeting is related to the State House of Assembly lawmakers’ attempt to remove the state’s governor from office.
The sacred chambers of the legislature were set on fire on Sunday night as a result of the attempt to impeach the governor.
Elder Ferdinand Alabaraba, the PDP Elders Forum Leader, Chief Sergeant Awuse, the Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, Senior Advocate of Nigeria OCJ Okocha, and Bro Felix Obuah, the PDP/Fubara campaign director for the 2023 election are among those present at the meeting.
The gathering took place at the home of the governor in Government House, Port Harcourt.
According to a source who talked with Newsmen, the elders were at Government House in order to mediate the state’s subsequent issue.
The source, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that the elders had begged Fubara to postpone further action while the team conferred with all stakeholders in an effort to restore peace.
There are rumours that Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and the governor of Rivers are at odds.
