UPDATE: Peter Obi Reacts To Torture Of NLC President, Ajaero

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, was detained and allegedly tortured in Imo State. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee for president in 2023, has denounced these actions.

In a statement made public on Thursday on his official X Twitter, Obi said that most Nigerians were shocked to learn that the NLC President had allegedly been brutalised and that the incident speaks volumes about the situation in the nation.

The alleged attack on Ajaero, according to the former governor of Anambra State, demonstrates the extent of criminality, lawlessness, and impunity that have taken hold of the nation.

We Have No Regret Supporting Peter Obi – NLC President, Ajaero

Such a situation, according to Obi, should concern any perceptive mind since it is inconsistent with the kind of country that Nigerians desire and deserve.

The LP flagbearer declared that the New Nigeria of his aspirations will not tolerate the willful misuse of authority or the flagrant violation of citizens’ rights by acts of impunity.

According to Anaedonline.ng, NLC planned a protest rally in Owerri on Wednesday in response to the state government’s purported insensitivity to the state’s workers’ predicament.

Just before the demonstration started, he and a few union leaders were accosted by thugs who physically hurt them. He was taken to their facility by police officers immediately following the attack, where they allegedly placed him under protective custody.
