Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee for president in the most recent election, has explained why he declined to concede to Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Recall that Obi accompanied Atiku in the 2019 presidential race, both men running on the PDP platform.
However, Obi, who was supposed to run alongside Atiku once more in 2023, quit the PDP and joined the LP as a result of an internal struggle. On the platform of the Liberal Party, he ran for president and won in twelve states, including the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT.

On Monday, after two weeks following the Supreme Court’s ruling that confirmed the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general election.
Unlike other presidential candidates, Obi claimed that Atiku came out to advocate for a new Nigeria, hence he refused to resign or collaborate with him.
He said, “We don’t regret anything we did. We came out on a campaign for new Nigeria which no other person did.
