Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was not produced by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the Federal Capital Territory’s High Court on Monday.

Anaedoonline.ng is aware that Emefiele was not presented in court despite a trial judge, Justice Olukayode Adeniyi, ordering the EFCC to do so so so that his motion for the enforcement of fundamental rights may be heard.

Last week, Justice Adeniyi gave the anti-graft agency an order to either produce the former CBN governor in person for the hearing on a motion deciding his bail or release him unconditionally.

This comes after the Department of State Services (DSS) released him from their custody in late October, just before he was arrested by the EFCC.

The court has now postponed until Wednesday, November 8 in order to hear Emefiele’s notice motion and give his attorney time to provide further supporting documentation.

Additionally, it reiterated its directive from November 2 calling for Emefiele’s unconditional release or his appearance in court on Wednesday.
