Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, set a requirement for a truce on Sunday.

Netanyahu declared that Israel will not consent to any truce in the Gaza War until the prisoners were returned during a visit to the southern Israeli Ramon Air Force base.

He clarified that he was bringing this message to both the nation’s allies and adversaries.

Jerusalem Post quoted Netanyahu saying, “I also want you to know that there is one thing that we will not do – there will be no ceasefire without the return of the captives.

“The very idea of doing that has to be removed from the conversation.

“We (are saying) this to both our enemies and our friends. We will continue (the battle) until we have defeated them (our enemy). We have no alternative. I think today everyone understands that.”

In the meantime, the Gaza Strip’s health ministry, which is controlled by Hamas, declared that since the conflict with Israel broke out last month, at least 9,770 Palestinians had lost their lives.

According to the ministry, since Israel started attacking the Gaza Strip in retribution for the attacks on October 7 by Hamas militants in southern Israel, which resulted in the deaths of over 1,400 people, the most of them civilians, at least 4,800 children have died.

According to recent data, 11,187 people have died on both sides.
