The Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate has advocated for a single, five-year term as president of Nigeria.
Obi stated that the idea was a component of his electioneering campaign and that he would have sponsored a constitutional amendment limiting the President’s term to five years.
He discussed concerns emerging from the recent Supreme Court verdict that confirmed President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the most recent election during a press conference on Monday in Abuja.

“On the issue of a single term, we campaigned on the issue of restructuring and reform and that would have included an amendment to make this Constitution be a workable and functional Constitution that would be productive for Nigerians. I included in that would have been the issue of single tenure.
“I would go for a five-year tenure which would go for thirty years rotational.”
