The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of human and operational assets to support security measures during the Imo State governorship election. The State Commandant, Edwin Osuala, addressed the officers and men of the NSCDC at their state command headquarters in Awka before their deployment.
Osuala emphasized the importance of professionalism and ethical standards in carrying out their election duties. He warned NSCDC personnel against compromising with political actors and assured that anyone found wanting would face decisive action. Partisanship was strongly discouraged, and due diligence was encouraged.
The NSCDC’s mission is to collaborate with other security agencies to provide a secure environment for the movement of election materials, INEC officials, and voters, allowing for a peaceful and free voting process. The success of the Imo gubernatorial election is directly tied to the security and safety provided by security agencies.
