Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, has pledged to punish his cabinet colleagues for allegedly betraying him during the state’s governorship race on November 11.

Remember that Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Muri Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) were defeated by All Progressives Congressive (APC) candidate Usman Ododo in the governorship contest.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Bello threatened to cut off his fingers if the cabinet members choose to obstruct his advancement during a meeting with APC stakeholders in Lokoja behind closed doors.

Despite everything he done for them, the Governor claimed that many of his allies had betrayed him by selecting Ododo as his successor.

The so-called allies, according to Bello, are “enemies within,” working with the opposition parties to overthrow him.

He added that he would deal harshly with leaders who make threats against their subordinates.

He said, “All of those disgruntled elements moved against him (Ododo) after everything I did for them. I was fighting known enemies while enemies within were pulling me down. God punish you all.

“They said if it can’t be me, then it can’t be Ododo. They were busy conniving and conspiring with the opposition. They call themselves leaders but were misleading the people. Shame on you all.

The governor also publicly criticised a state senator, claiming that the senator’s brothers had destroyed him before he was able to recover from his purported financial insolvency.

“Today, you are a second-term serving senator. You were laughing with us while you went behind to text opposition messages to hinder our party from having 25 per cent in some local governments,” he added.
