UPDATE: “We’ll Kick Out Rivers Governor, Fubara in 2027 Election” – Ganduje Vows

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, disclosed a renewed effort by the National Working Committee (NWC) to reposition the party in the state in an attempt to clinch victory in the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State.

The APC intends to retake control of Rivers State, which is currently ruled by the opposition PDP, with Governor Sim Fubara at the helm.

Recently, Fubara broke off relations with Nyesom Wike, his political mentor and the minister in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the APC-led federal government.

At the state caretaker committee’s inauguration on Friday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, Ganduje voiced worries over the party’s difficulties in Rivers State since 2015, citing intra-party disputes and litigations as contributing factors.

Notably, on Wednesday the NWC dissolved the Rivers executives at all levels and installed a seven-member caretaker committee under the leadership of Tony Okocha. The committee is made up of supporters of former governor and current minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike.

The action highlights the APC’s resolve to overcome obstacles and make noteworthy advancements in Rivers State politics in the run-up to the 2027 elections.
