Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Kanu Agabi’s land allotment has been revoked, with approval from Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a notice posted on the property at Plot 2935, off Mamud Ribadu Street, Asokoro, Abuja, the revocation was declared. The notification, which was signed by the FCT Administration’s deeds registrar, Engineer Umar Sayyadi, claimed that Agabi had broken the conditions of the land distribution.

According to the notification, Agabi neglected to develop the land in accordance with the standards for allocation, which mandated that he erect a residential structure within two years of the land’s distribution. Rather, the area was left undeveloped for more than a decade.

The decision by Wike to cancel the land allocation is a component of a larger initiative to recover underutilised land in the Federal Capital Territory and guarantee that land allocations are put to their intended uses. The FCT Administration has cancelled a number of land allocations in recent months that belonged to well-known people and organisations that did not develop the land in accordance with the standards for land distribution.

An important step is the cancellation of Agabi’s land allocation, which makes it clear that the FCT Administration takes its responsibility to uphold land allocation laws seriously.
