UPDATE: Police Arrest Suspected Killers of DPO, Inspector in Imo State

Some suspects have been taken into custody by the Imo State Police Command in connection with the purported murders of an inspector and a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

On November 27, 2023, at Ahiara Junction, a group of people suspected of belonging to the armed militia security network of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group that is prohibited by law, assassinated the police officers.

This was revealed over the weekend at a press conference held at the Command Headquarters in Owerri, the state capital, by State Commissioner of Police Danjuma Aboki.

He said that the united efforts of the police, the united Task Force (JTF), and the 34 Artillery Brigade allowed for the capture, when they attacked the IPOB/ESN camp at Umuohie in Ngor Okpala LGA of the state on November 29, 2023.

Aboki claimed that the security guards had taken many firearms and ammunition from the crooks and removed a number of them.

He went on to say that more offenders had been caught for a range of crimes, such as murder, armed robbery, cult membership, and unlawful gun and ammunition possession.

The police commissioner stated that a total of eighteen assault guns, five AK-47 rifles, six pump actions, three59 rounds of ammunition, charms, automobiles, motorbikes, military camouflage, police, and other incriminating materials were discovered among the accused.

He celebrated the arrest of the suspects as a triumph in the state’s fight against criminality and unrest. He assured the populace that the police would continue their heroic efforts to safeguard the safety and peace of Imo State’s residents.
