North East Elders Absolves Military Leadership Of Complicit In Kaduna Bombing

The military leadership’s alleged involvement in the regrettable incident that occurred recently in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State, has been refuted by the North East Elders for Restoration and Development (NEERD), which has called the accusations harsh and hurtful.

The NEERD Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, and President Mallam Buba Tanko made this announcement on Sunday in Abuja.

Recall that on December 3, near Tudun Biri in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, a Nigerian Army drone accidently killed and maimed numerous persons.

After the event, some people and organisations made suggestions that the occurrence had an undertone of ethnoreligion.

The group added in its contribution that it was regrettable that the military, which had continued to make sacrifices for the nation’s peace and stability, was being blackmailed by ethno-religious feelings.

They claimed that the people making the accusations ought to have researched the background of the current military leadership, particularly that of Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence.

They say it’s terrible that certain people are being used for personal gain to inflame tensions in the North.

“For example, the present Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Christopher Musa, was Theatre Commander Operation Hadin Kai.

“His stay in the North-East is enough to vouch that the Armed Forces of Nigeria under him will not descend to attack those it is protecting.

“During his stay in the North-East, Gen. Musa ensured that peace was not only restored but people, irrespective of ethnicity and religion began to return to their various means of livelihood.

“We must not be blinded by ethno-religious sentiments at this time the country is going through economic and security challenges.

“Any one bringing up these insinuations at this time, don’t love Nigeria,” they said.

The military forces’ actions, particularly in the Northeast, were applauded by the elders.

They pleaded with locals to keep helping the armed forces in their endeavour to bring about complete peace for the nation and the Northeast.
