Tinubu Responsible for Rivers Crisis – APC Chieftain, Wali

Kingsley Wali, the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has blamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the state’s ongoing political unrest.

In an interview with Punch, Wali said that Tinubu had purposefully “destroyed” the APC in Rivers because he disagreed with the party’s state leader, former governor Rotimi Amaechi.

According to Wali, the distance between Tinubu and Amaechi grew when the latter placed second in the APC presidential primaries against Tinubu.

After that, Amaechi is said to have supported Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the 2023 election, ostensibly trying to thwart Tinubu’s success.

The PDP leader and political foe of Amaechi, Nyesom Wike, allegedly backed Tinubu in the state in retaliation.

Wali claims that Tinubu’s meeting with Wike and Governor Sim Fubara was only a formality because it did not produce any fruitful outcomes.

He stated, “Our problem goes beyond the status of the APC in Rivers State because truth be told, there is no such thing as the APC in Rivers State, because the President of the country has intentionally and deliberately because whatever disagreement he had with the leader of the party in the state, destroyed the party that he was part of, that he helped to form, but for selfish reasons, he wants to destroy the party in Rivers State.

“But in destroying the APC in Rivers State, he was forgetting the people who died defending the cause of the APC in Rivers State, they are a legion. There was a particular family in Omok, the father, his wife, and the children were all executed.

“A lot of people were killed, but what the President is doing to the APC in Rivers State is simply spitting or peeing on the graves of those who died defending the party in the state. But again, it is Nigeria; that is the way Nigeria works,” he added.

Wali went on to say that since Wike was appointed as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, the APC in Rivers State has experienced a surge of “PDP refugees.”
