By the end of 2024, the Nigerian federal government has promised to abolish insecurity.

Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle disclosed that the government is taking a proactive approach to combat banditry, particularly in the unstable northern area.

“God willing, from now to November of 2024, all security challenges will be overcome,” said Matawalle in a BBC interview.

He said that in the coming months, the country’s insecurity problems should come to an end thanks to the new techniques and strategies being used.

Matawalle claims that these tactics entail confronting gunmen in their homes before they have a chance to carry out an assault.

The new governor of Zamfara State, the minister noted, “has never contacted me and Badaru or asked to meet with us on the security of his state,” despite the serious security challenges in the state.

He added that a number of governors, whose states are experiencing a security crisis, are working with the federal government to find a solution.

Matawalle urged his governor to seek assistance from the security forces and the federal government, stating, β€œHe cannot do the job alone. He should not mind what is between me and him, he should mind the people of Zamfara State. Put aside all politics and let unite to find a solution for the state.”
