Nigerians on X (previously known as Twitter) are demanding Education Minister Prof. Tahir Mamman to launch his war on bogus certificate holders with President Bola Tinubu after an investigation report on counterfeit diplomas from Benin Republic universities.
As previously reported by Anaedoonline.ng, Mamman intends to use security agencies to identify and classify Nigerians with phoney foreign academic qualifications as criminals.
During his participation on Channels Television’s programme, Mamman stressed this strategy.

He clarified that criminality has no time limit, meaning that the commission of a crime does not lessen its gravity.
The focus of the conversation has switched to people who are currently in positions of authority and may have obtained such positions through the use of false foreign certifications.
This change in emphasis highlights the public officials’ rising concerns about the validity of their academic credentials.
Mamman had said, “If along the line, we can trace that there are people already in the system.
“For instance, if a particular institution or operator has been operating, say, in the last 10 years, we will check if we can get records of Nigerians who attended that institution. Once we do that, they are criminals and you know there is no timeframe for criminality. We will trace them.

“As long as we can lay our hands on their institutions and they are right here with us, certainly, the security agencies will go after them because they are criminals.”
Reacting to the minister’s proposed action of security agencies going after fake certificate holders, @brotherbarth in a post on X said that “The Tinubu’s Minister of Education lacks moral ground to go after Nigerians with fake university Certificates, because Tinubu, his boss, submitted fake University Certificate to INEC.”
