Today in Abuja, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, is scheduled to open the country’s first online passport application gateway.

This was revealed last Friday at a live demonstration session in which the Minister and Caroline Adepoju, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, presented the cutting-edge web interface.

The minister promised in December to completely automate the passport application process nationally, and the new platform was created for both foreign and Nigerian applicants. According to Tunji, the automated system is currently “99 percent done,” with features including the ability to upload supporting documentation and passport images.
