Court To Delivers Judgment On Rivers Assembly, Fubara Suit Today

The Federal High Court in Abuja will hear the case that Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly Martin Amaewhule filed against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the National Assembly, and other parties.

This was made clear in a message sent on Sunday to everyone involved in the situation.

The plaintiffs in the case with the file number FHC/ABJ/CS/1613/2023 are the House of Assembly of Rivers State and Amaewhule.

The National Assembly, the Senate President, the Deputy Senate President, the Senate Majority Leader, and the Senate Minority Leader are the first through fifth defendants.

In order to prevent Fubara from assuming the role of the Rivers State Assembly in enacting laws for the peace, order, and good government of Rivers in matters falling under its constitutional and legislative purview, the plaintiffs filed a request for an injunction against the first through tenth defendants.

Amaewhule was the speaker, and they requested an injunction to stop Fubara from blocking or disturbing the assembly.

Justice James Omotoso is the sitting judge in this matter.

According to Rivers, Amaewhule filed the complaint at the height of the political unrest in the state.

But on December 18, President Bola Tinubu summoned Wike and Fubara to an Abuja meeting, where they signed an eight-point agreement to break the impasse in politics.
