Gbajabiamila emphasised that unchecked information sharing on social media might have unforeseen implications, including endangering people’s lives and security.
Obafemi Hamzat, the deputy governor of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was present at the event, which emphasised the value of data-driven decision-making and evidence-based discourse in administration. Gbajabiamila complimented Fashola for distilling his twenty-one years of public service experience into a book, emphasising the government’s duty to interact with citizens on the basis of shared facts.

A social media control law has been proposed, but the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) encouraged Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas to reject it due to possible violations of the right to privacy and freedom of expression.
The position of SERAP is consistent with its support for the defence of basic human rights against attempts by the government to impose regulations.
