Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, has pledged to make his state a model state for Nigeria and Africa.

At a celebration held to honour the day at the International Convention Centre in Awka, Governor Soludo gave a speech detailing the numerous accomplishments of his administration over the previous two years.

Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim and his wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, accompanied Governor Soludo, who presented his administration’s two-year scorecard, stressing that Anambra is resilient and that his administration has a deadline for which there are no justifications. He also noted that in the last two years, he has succeeded in laying the groundwork for Anambra to become a smart megacity, despite the dearth of resources, compared to the availability of resources in past years.

Governor Soludo reiterated that his administration is shifting course this year, but he also pointed out that his administration is purposefully carrying out the most austere governance ever, emphasising the needs of the people above all else and promising to keep prioritising those who are ignored.

The governor listed his administration’s accomplishments during the previous two years, mentioning the opening of more than 400 kilometres of new roads, the proclamation of free education, the provision of free prenatal care and delivery services, and the continuing Anambra State-wide water project, among other things.

Chief Emeka Anyaoku, the former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, congratulated the Governor and outlined what he considered the demonstrable accomplishments of his government since taking office two years prior.

Chief Anyaoku stated that, given the Governor’s background, he was not shocked by his performance. He highlighted the three qualities that the Governor brought to the position: a strong academic foundation, a “can do” mentality, and a sense of belonging on the streets where the people live.

He also mentioned that there have been notable advancements in education, health, agriculture, youth, and women’s empowerment, among other areas, as well as high-quality roads.

Bishop Ezeokafor promised to pray for the Governor and his staff while praising them for accomplishing all of this without taking any money from outside sources and urging everyone to support Governor Soludo’s administration.

Chief Innocent Chukwuma, Sir Daniel Chukwudozie, and Lady Ada Chukwudozie were among the individuals that spoke with the ABS about the Governor’s two years in office. They praised his administration and prayed for continued strength.
