Tony Okocha, the interim chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has charged Governor Siminalayi with a scheme to get injunctions to obstruct the activities of the State House of Assembly.

Mr. Okocha made this accusation against the governor today at a news conference at his Port Harcourt office, raising questions about the governor’s sincerity when he claimed that he joined the Presidential Peace Pact out of respect for President Tinubu.

Mr Okocha said, “reading through the 8-point deal will it be true to say that 8 and 6 have been implemented? What are they? That you represent the budget to the legitimate Assembly as led by Martin Amaewhule. And 8 which of course directed the governor to conduct elections and never recognize any other nomenclature in the local governments.

Wike Helped In Making Tinubu President, He Is Welcome To APC – Okocha

“The governor’s blatant refusal to conduct local government elections goes to affect the extant laws of Rivers State and is a deliberate attempt to disrespect Mr President.”

It’s clear that the political conflict in the state rich in oil is not going away anytime soon.

Mr. Fubara sternly cautioned his political rivals yesterday not to interpret his cool-headedness and acceptance of the Presidential Peace Accord as a show of weakness, saying they would be shocked if they did.

Governor Fubara revealed that he had received a barrage of remarks from the media about the peace initiative’s implementation, but that he had chosen to remain silent out of maturity and wisdom.

He explained the circumstances and emphasised that the agreement that was approved was a political resolution when President Bola Tinubu interfered in the state’s political issue on October 30, 2023.

Governor Fubara stressed that President Tinubu was the reason he had started carrying out the deal. But he issued a warning, saying that some politicians appeared to have mistaken his loyalty and humility for a show of weakness.
