The governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that any changes made to the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) caretaker committee roster in the state, which depart from the original agreement, will not be accepted.
KM 17, Port Harcourt Motorway, Elelenwo/Rumuokrusi is the location of the Port Harcourt International Automobile Spare Parts Trading and Commercial Centre, where Governor Fubara spoke on Thursday during the groundbreaking ceremony.
His remarks came in response to worries raised by his followers about the party’s National Working Committee’s distribution of the name of members of the State and Local Government Caretaker Committee.
Rivers Crisis: Fubara, PDP Elders In Closed-Door Meeting
The list purportedly contained supporters of former governor Nyesom Wike who had not previously been connected to the party management.
Governor Fubara explained that the decision was made at a meeting to give the executives in states where their terms had ended an additional three months of service. He underlined that there was no need to add any more names.
“I know that a lot of you saw something flying in the media. Let me brief you. We have a meeting and agreed that all the state affected, the executive should be extended for three months. This extension is not to bring in new names.”
Furthermore, he brought up the fact that the members of the caretaker committee were not supposed to function independently of the state governors.
In order to confirm the list, Governor Fubara announced that the party’s National Executive Committee would meet on April 18.
