PDP Doesn’t Exist Anymore As A Political Party — Kenneth Okonkwo

Kenneth Okonkwo, a Nollywood actor and spokesperson for the Labour Party’s Obi-Datti presidential campaign committee, has stirred up controversy by claiming that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) now controls the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a message posted on his official X Twitter, Okonkwo attacked the PDP, saying it had become a shell of its former self in Nigerian politics and had lost its autonomy.

He said, “PDP is now a slave to APC. It’s now a second-class captured political party that has no mind of its own. It doesn’t exist anymore as a political party in Nigeria.

“Whoever is still in PDP is a self-acclaimed slave of APC. Sorry your leaders have already pledged to support,” he added.

This claim coincides with internal PDP splits after the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party approved the Amb. Umar Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC) at its 98th meeting in Abuja.

Disagreements over leadership roles are another factor contributing to the party’s division; former vice president Atiku Abubakar’s group is pushing for Damagum to take back the role of Deputy National Chairman (North).

With this action, the North-Central area hopes to generate a worthy national chairman to fill the position left empty by Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, the recent chairman.
