JUST IN: Vice President Shettima Cancels Trip To US Over Faulty Aircraft

Nigeria’s vice president, Kashim Shettima, has postponed his trip to the United States and is headed back home.

Shettima was supposed to be in Dallas, Texas, for the US-Africa Business Summit in 2024.

But it was verified in a statement endorsed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s media and communications assistant, Stanley Nkwocha, that Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, the minister of foreign affairs, will now represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Dallas, Texas, Tinubu Summit.

Shettima was unable to complete the journey “due to a technical issue with his aircraft, necessitating a diversion on the recommendation of the Presidential Air Fleet,” according to Nkwocha.

He also added that the Vice President will carry on with other national duties.

Part of the statement also said: “The high-profile summit, taking place at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, will bring together political and business leaders from across Africa, the United States, and other regions. It features high-level dialogues, networking sessions, and plenaries.”
