In 2018, the presidency revealed that the president Muhammed Buhari has approved the reduction in the cost of JAMB UTME, NECO, and the Basic Education Certificate Examination forms for 2019 applicants.
The price of JAMB form was reduced from N5, 000 to N3, 500 while NECO was reduced from N11,350 to N9,850.

The reduction of the form fees was as a result of President Buhari ‘s directive that the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu should look into the agencies revenues.
The Presidency maintained that the agencies are not supposed to be a revenue-generating body but expected to cover operating costs.
