However, the Hisbah Commission in Kano State has arrested 42 male and female students of Bayero University for staying in the same room with students of the opposite sex.

The students were arrested in the off-campus hostels of the Bayero University specifically in the Danbare area of the Kano metropolis.

We understand that the suspects, boys and girls, were arrested on Wednesday in the same room and taken to a nearby commission office.

A local resident explained that the action of the Hisbah operatives caused panic among some students who even spent the night thinking of what might come next.

This is not the case with Hisbah entering the area to arrest suspects in connection with the scandal where some see the commission as using the opportunity to harass those in conflict with them.
