The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, has come under fire for allegedly failing to apprehend former Lagos State Governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Reno Omokri, a former presidential adviser, questioned why Tinubu has been allowed to roam freely despite suspected corruption charges against him, whereas Willie Obiano, who recently completed his eight-year term as governor of Anambra State on Thursday, was detained right away.

Obiano was detained at the Lagos International Airport on Thursday, a few hours after he officially turned over to Prof. Charles Soludo and was about to leave the country, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

Wilson Uwajaren, the EFCC’s Public Relations Officer, told BBC Pidgin that Obiano had been on the Commission’s watchlist previous to the handover.

And Omokri is shocked that the EFCC hasn’t pursued Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State for eight years.

“Obiano is a saint in comparison to Bola Tinubu.” Ebele is a choir mistress in comparison to Oluremi Tinubu,” the former advisor to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan tweeted.

“Why has the EFCC abandoned Bola Tinubu and gone after Obiano, despite his massive corruption?”

“Let us not be diverted by this drama, Nigerians!” “We require equity!”
