The Labour Party’s (LP) Peter Obi is supported by Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, according to media reports, which Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has refuted.

Five governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) purportedly met recently in Enugu State to discuss supporting Obi’s presidential aspirations, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

The governors, according to a report, want to back Obi because they don’t like the PDP’s Atiku Abubakar for president.

Ikpeazu claimed that none of the five PDP governors ever discussed Obi or expressed support for his bid for the presidency in an interview with Newsmen.

He urged PDP members and other party members to ignore media rumors that he and his colleagues were going to support Obi for the presidency in 2023.

He said: “No, we never discussed Peter Obi in our meeting. Peter Obi is my brother and I’m proud of what he is doing. It will be a great disservice to his person and where he comes from, where both of us come from, for me to discuss him openly.
