President Muhammadu Buhari’s communications advisor, Bashir Ahmad, criticized Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi for thanking Napoli striker Victor Osimhen on winning the Serie A championship.
On Sunday, Obi thanked the Nigerian international for his contribution to the Italian league victory in a series of tweets sent through his verified Twitter account.
The inspirational tale of Osimhen’s rise from the Ojota slums in Lagos to become one of the best footballers in the world, according to the former governor of Anambra State, is a powerful example of what Nigerian youngsters can accomplish if given the correct environment to follow their aspirations.

Obi claimed that Oshimehn’s success is evidence that a new Nigeria is feasible if we are able to tap into the plethora of talents that our teeming youngsters possess.
In response to the news, Ahmad claimed that since Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, had already congratulated Osimehn on behalf of all Nigerians, Obi should not have done so.
He wrote: “The President-elect has already congratulated him on every Nigerian behalf. No need for repetition, Peter.”
I heartily congratulate the Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, whose 22nd goal of the season earned Napoli a 1-1 draw at Udinese and was enough to win the great Italian Football Club their first Serie A league title since 1990. pic.twitter.com/3gsupVepSV
