The Lagos State Police Command has denied rumors on social media that CP Frank Mba has been named CP ahead of the 2023 election.
The police department stated that it has received numerous requests for clarification on the Commissioner of Police’s status.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Public Relations Officer, issued a reply on Friday, calling the charges false.
“Commissioner of Police is still CP Abiodun Alabi, or the avoidance of doubt, no Commissioner of Police has been posted to Lagos,” he said.
Frank Mba: Why Nigeria Police Will Not End SARS
The public was cautioned to “ignore bogus news” about the hiring of a new chief.
Hundeyin stated that the clarification should put an end to the “needless disruption and waste of valuable time,” and that locals will be kept updated as needed.
Frank Mba previously worked as the PRO of the Lagos State Command and then as the Force Public Relations Officer at the police national headquarters in Abuja.
The senior official was nominated for a Senior Executive Course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, as a result of his position. He recently finished.
Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, confirmed CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, a former PRO in Lagos, as Mba’s successor in April.
