Several locals in the Imo State town of Awomama have reportedly died and others have been injured as a result of a serious Nigerian Army operation.
The video from @EmekaGiftOfficial shows that soldiers detonated explosives on civilian residences after arriving in five heavily armoured trucks.
According to eyewitnesses, the strike claimed the lives of at least 13 civilians, including men, women, and children.
Property valued at billions of Naira was destroyed, while numerous others were hurt or had to escape.

As part of ongoing operations to deter their activities in the region, the army said that on July 20, 2024, troops from the Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA, in cooperation with other security agencies, raided and cleared the camps of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
The raids happened in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, specifically in Ezioha-Eziama Village. The ESN camp of infamous commander Lucio Agu, also known as B44, was targeted by joint troops from the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Department of State Services, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.
“Troops neutralised two IPOB/ESN commanders known as Asari and Mazi during the firefight, while others fled with varying degrees of gunshot wounds,” the statement reads.
102 rounds of unique 7.62mm ammunition, CCTV cameras, two AK-47 rifles with three magazines, and various charms were among the goods found.

Simultaneously, in the Okigwe and Ummuneochi Local Government Areas of Imo and Abia States, troops of Sector 3 destroyed another IPOB/ESN camp near Ezere Forest, between Umuawa and Aku villages. The irredentists were outgunned and took cover in the neighbouring bushes, leaving behind a general-purpose machine gun, various ammo, four motorcycles, and four radios.
“We call on the good people of the South East to continue to provide credible and timely information that will help to annihilate the criminals in the region,” said the Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA in a plea for collaboration from the public. “Operation UDO KA will continue to carry out its constitutional roles in line with global best practices as laid down in the rules of engagement guiding its operations,” the task force declared, reiterating its commitment to protecting people and property.
