ONITSHA: FIRE OUTBREAK IN A MECHANIC WORKSHOP

Early this morning, a mystery fire engulfed about 19 vehicles parked in a mechanic workshop in Awada area of Onitsha, Anambra State. It was gathered that the incident happened at around 2am.

Police public relations officer of Anambra State police command, SP Haruna Mohammed spoke to the press saying: “At About 2 am, there was fire outbreak inside a mechanic workshop located at Amanator Street, Awada.

“About 19 vehicles parked at the workshop were affected. While some were completely burnt, others were burnt partially.”

Haruna said, “The fire was eventually put off by the concerted efforts of residents of the area.

“Police patrol team attached to Awada Division rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area to prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of the situation to loot.”

“EEDC has been contacted to effect necessary repairs on the affected power line. The case is under investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident,” SP Haruna Mohammed stated.
The fire was reported to have affected a high tension pole that passes through that area, but thankfully, no life was lost in the incident.
