FEDERAL GOV’T TO BUILD POWER PLANTS IN NNEWI -HON CHRIS AZUBOGU

The member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Engr. Chris Azubuogu, has announced plans by the Federal Government to build two power plants in Nnewi.

Speaking in Nnewi recently, Azubuogu announced that his office was communicated by the Federal Ministry of Power, Housing and Works of the Federal Government’s plans to build 5000MW Power Plants for the industrial clusters in Nnewi and also another 5000MW power plant for Nkwo Nnewi Market and the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi.

He also announced the plans of the Federal Government to Flag off Nnewi Automotive Industrial Park.

Recall that in December of 2016, Industialists in Nnewi petitioned the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, over the epileptic power supply in the area.

Their petition signed by the President of Nnewi Investors Forum, Dr. Ben. Aghazu; and the Coordinator of the Forum, Mr. Linus Ilozue, urged the Vice President to come to their aid as they described the power supply in the industrial cluster as very irregular.

It is also important to recall that Anambra State Government have spent N1.8b to tackle power problems in Nnewi during the upgrading of 18KVA to 36KVA from Awada Injection Substation to Nnewi North and South, Ekwusigo and Idemili LGAs, covering about 30 communities.
