Governor Willie Obiano has been commended for promoting Igbo language and culture.
The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C’Don Adinuba, was speaking while receiving members of the Igbo Wikipedia user group, who visited him in his office at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex in Awka.
The Commissioner said that Gov. Obiano knows the value of Information Communication Technology, which made him to fully upgrade the Anambra Broadcasting Service to a digitized studio.
The Commissioner said the state is the only one in the country with a Ministry for Digital Entrepreneurship, assuring the group of his support to realize its mission.
He announced that the state will offer the organization office accommodation to enable it begin the project in Anambra State.
In a remark, one of the group representatives, Miss Tochi Friday, said her passion to include Igbo language into the worldwide web platform, arose from her study of some foreign languages.
Another representative, Mrs Uzoma Ozurumba, expressed dissatisfaction over the omission of information about Igbo language in the online dictionary in spite of the rich cultural relics and sites in Igboland.

She said the group is ready to train State Information and Tourism Officers on how to register Igbo language and culture in the cyber space.
The group was on a mission to seek the state government’s partnership in its bid to introduce Igbo language to online search tool known as WikiPlatform.
