Former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has announced his return to his former political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Obasanjo made the declaration while speaking at the ongoing presentation/launch of the book titled “My Transition Hours “, written by former President Goodluck Jonathan at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

Obasanjo returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after months of building the Coalition for Nigeria Movement (CNM) and thereafter strengthening the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Obasanjo’s return to PDP was consummated after the new alliance the PDP formed with 30 other political parties, including the ADC and the Social Democratic Party and the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC).

The new mega party alliance was concluded in Abuja on Monday.

Reps Urges Prayers For Nigeria

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had earlier envisaged the possibility of former President Olusegun Obasanjo returning to its fold almost four years after quitting his membership of the party.

Having returned to the PDP, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the party will issue the former president with new membership card immediately.

Recall that Obasanjo in February 2015, handed over his PDP membership card to the Ward 11 leader in Abeokuta North Local Government, Alhaji Surajudeen Oladunjoye and instructed him to tear it.
