Metuh to Court: I FIND IT DIFFICULT FEEDING MY FAMILY

Olisa Metuh, former national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said that freezing of his Naira and Dollar accounts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has introduced serious hunger into his family.

Metuh, on Tuesday, November 27, pleaded with the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to order the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to unfreeze his bank accounts.

He expressed shock over the development and claimed he learnt of the no-debit order placed on his account after his failed transaction on one of the accounts.

The report said Metuh, who is being prosecuted with his Destra Investments Limited over an alleged laundering of N400 million from the office of the national security adviser under the PDP government of Goodluck Jonathan, made the oral application while being led in evidence by his counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN).

It was learnt that Metuh denied his involvement in the alleged deal and claimed the continuous freezing of all his bank accounts by the prosecution had left him and his family starving.

The former PDP spokesperson pleaded with the court to compel the EFCC to immediately unfreeze his accounts, adding that he remained innocent of the crime he was charged for.

He said: “I do not know where to get my next meal from.

“The EFCC went ahead to freeze all my accounts and I cannot get any money to feed myself and my family. I do not even know how I am going to exist from now on.
