40 POLITICAL PARTIES BEGGED ME TO BE THEIR GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE – UCHE NWOSU

The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance in Imo State, Uche Nwosu, has revealed that at the point when it became obvious that the All Progressives Congress was set to rob him of his mandate, more than 40 political parties invaded him with offers for him to be their governorship candidate for the election.

He said that these political parties made no extravagant demands from him, but were more anxious to win the governorship seat of Imo State through him as they are confident that with the massive acceptance of his candidacy by Imolites, he is the best positioned to win the governorship come 2019.

According to him; “About 40 political parties were on me with offers to run for the governorship on their platform. Some of them even promised to bankroll the project, because they are confident that I have the masses behind me to win the election with ease. But my mind was already made up on AA because that is my political background. I have come a long way with the AA, having served as National Secretary of the Party and its Director of Finance at a time. There was no better platform to realize my ambition but the AA.”

Speaking during a strategy parley with some leaders of the Action Alliance in the state, the chattered administrator and seasoned technocrat maintained that he will serve the interest of the masses first as governor and serve his own interest last.

“AA’s slogan of ‘Let the Masses Live’ is a natural refrain for me. I do not see politics as anything else but as a call to lift the downtrodden, enrich the poor and protect the weak. Any political arrangement that would see me become indebted to a cabal or mortgage my loyalty to any godfather against the interest of the masses is not for me. My indebtedness shall always be to the artisans, traders, farmers, youths, students, teachers and every class of the people because that is where I draw my strength from.”

Nwosu also reiterated his support for the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that the President’s re-election is the best deal for Nigeria at this moment.
