JUBILATION AS PHILANTHROPIST, MADUAKOR, EMPOWERS THE POOR IN NNEWI

Sunday, 9th December, 2018, will be remembered by 11 fortunate women that were empowered with cash during the 2018 Nnewichi Youths award ceremony at Obi Nnewichi Palace.

The Chief Executive Officer of KM Oil and Gas, Chief Kenneth Maduakor, popularly known as Kenneth Azia, during the ceremony, empowered 11 less privileged women after they were carefully selected by Nnewichi youths.

Speaking during the event, Chief Kenneth Maduakor went down memory lane to recall how he lived in extreme poverty with his family; how he stayed days without food. He, therefore, urged privileged individuals to always support the less privileged in the society.

He said “Time have come for us to reconsider the way we help the poor. We cannot give them things that can only satisfy their immediate desires. We must learn how to empower them so that they can become productive members of the society, thereby, improving their socioeconomic lives.

“For some years now, in my community, Azia, I have decided to help the less privileged in starting up business that will sustain them other than giving them gifts.

He called out the eleven women and promised to start up businesses for six of them that were young with one hundred thousand naira each; while he gave the remaining four persons one hundred thousand Naira to share among themselves, since they were already aged and cannot do business.
