Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, the wife of Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano welcomed the first baby of the year in 2019. She described the first baby of the year 2019, Baby Kamsi Eselu as a precious gift to Ndi Anambra and Nigeria. Kamsi was delivered at 12:24am on January 1st, 2019 at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital Awka, to Mrs Obiageli Eselu.
Mrs Obiano who was represented by the Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue during her visit to welcome the newborn prayed for the health of the new born Kamsi, noting that he is a gift to Ndi Anambra and Nigerians and will grow from strength to strength.
She also congratulated mother of the baby, Mrs. Obiageli Eselu whom she described as Mother-of-the-Year for safe delivery as well as the management and staff of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital for a job well done and for taking good care of the nursing mothers.

Confirming the delivery time of the Baby of the year, Head of Nursing at the Hospital, Mrs Felicia Ezeani said that the baby arrived at 12.24am weighing 3.2kg. She also thanked Osodieme for remembering the hospital and their patients early in the New year with various gift items.
The mother of the baby, Mrs Obiageli Eselu, thanked the wife of the Governor for visiting and donating to the upkeep of her new baby and disclosed that the baby is her first child.
