ANGLICAN PRIMATE COMMISSIONS NURSING SCHOOL, OTHER PROJECTS IN AMICHI (PHOTOS)

It was not only a historic moment for the congregation of the Diocese of Amichi, it was also a day that made joy and smiles to be seen on the faces of people of *Nnewi South Local Government* as the Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, the Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, *commissioned several projects in Amichi and environs.*

The commissioning which took place, yesterday, Saturday, 12th January, 2019, was part of the event to mark the *Ten (10) years Anniversary of the Diocese of Amichi (Anglican Communion) and Ten (10) years Episcopacy of the host Bishop, His Lordship, The Rt. Rev. Ephraim Okechukwu Ikeakor, the Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Amichi.*

The ceremony kicked off proper at *Diocesan College of Nursing Sciences complex,* where the Primate dedicated the Diocesan College of Nursing Sciences which had several facilities and buildings.

Commissioned were *the Male hostel, Female hostel, Lecture rooms, E – library, the Office complex with several offices, Refectory, Laboratories, the Library and the Clinic.*

The commissioning/dedication ceremony then proceeded to another side of Amichi where the Primate commissioned the *Women Bethany House built by the Women of the Diocese,* the Primate also commissioned a
*Business Complex* which had many offices and the *Diocesan Secretariat which had several offices including the Bishop’s office, a Chapel and the Conference room.*

After the commissioning, the Archbishop, Metropolitan and Anglican Primate of Church of Nigeria, the Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, praised and congratulated the Diocese of Amichi on their Anniversary and the progress they have made in the last Ten (10) years.

He said, “What I have seen has shown that this Diocese has witnessed a remarkable spiritual and physical growth in the last Ten (10) years. Amichi Diocese is no longer a village as it was then when it was created. This shows that the gospel does not only bring spiritual revival, it also brings development. This is how the missionaries who gave us the gospel of Jesus Christ, also brought development especially in the area of Education and Health.

He concluded by also commending the Bishop of the Diocese for the great strides the Diocese has made, he said, *”under your dynamic Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Ephraim Okechukwu Ikeakor, this Diocese has also made progress in the primary assignment of the Church which is bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people as many churches have been planted. I urge you all to continue to support and keep praying for him.*

Appreciating the Primate, the host Bishop, His Lordship, The Rt. Rev. Ephraim Okechukwu Ikeakor, thanked the Primate for his presence and reassured him of his primary commitment which is leading the church that wins souls, impacting lives and dominating her environment for Christ.

Speaking also, *the former Governor of Anambra State and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Vice Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi* who attended the event, praised Bishop Ikeakor for the great strides. He said, ” When you look at Hospital, being a considerate man, *the Bishop gave me a bill of thirty (30) million Naira, when I looked at everything, I told the Bishop that the project won’t cost less than One Hundred Million Naira,* the Bishop has indeed done an amazing work. Today, when we talk about School of Nursing and everything, i can only say God bless you and all of you that are supporting him.

He further added, “I have always said that Nigeria can change, look at what the Bishop has done, *If we have people like Bishop Ikeakor in government, will we be complaining?* Our children will have jobs, improved health care and our children will go to school. This is what we need in our society, those who can do amazing work. Please pray for our politicians especially now we are going for elections, may God allow us to elect those that will save Nigeria, he concluded.

The event was attended by many Anglican Bishops of different Dioceses, Clergies and thousands of Anglican faithfuls of the Diocese of Amichi.

*The 10th Anniversary of the Diocese of Amichi is expected to continue today, Sunday, 13th January, 2019 with the launching of Two hundred and fifty million Naira (250,000,000) School of Midwifery.*
