MAN DEFILES 6-YEAR- OLD GIRL IN NNEWI, ANAMBRA STATE

A 6-year-old girl identified as Angel, from Akwa Ibom State, but resident in Obiofia-Nnewichi, Nnewi, with her parents, was allegedly defiled by a 40-year-old man identified simply as Chukwudi, aka Alaukpor from Ukpor, Nnewi South LGA.

The incident took place Obiofia-Nnewichi, Nnewi in Anambra State penultimate week.

The mother of the victim, who introduced herself as Mrs. Peterson, a petty trader in Nnewi, told Anaedooline that she was in her shop with the little Angel the fateful day when she sent the little girl to get the lantern from their house for evening business.

According to her, it took the little girl a very long time to return to the shop. She said that she noticed the strange way her daughter was walking, but overlooked it.

She continued: “After the night’s business, we went home. It was my husband that noticed that some fluid was coming out from her Vagina. He called my attention to that, I cleaned it and slept. In the morning, my husband called his sister, who was a nurse and explained the situation. She advised that we should consult a medical doctor for advice. When we met a doctor, he conducted a test and told us that the fluid was sperm.

“We had to call the little girl and asked her questions. She told us that Chukwudi, our neighbor, called her inside his room and had sex with her the night she was sent to get the lantern.

“We confronted Chukwudi but he denied. We reported the incident to community vigilante group in Umuogbo-Obiofia, Nnewichi, Nnewi for necessary actions”.

Mrs.  Peterson further said that since the incident was reported, the family is yet to see any action taken by the vigilante.

She said that the culprit, Chukwudi, a widower and father of two, has run away from the yard since the incident took place, and has refused to return to Nnewi since then.

Asked whether they have reported the incident to police, she said that going to police and court will involve a lot of money; and that the family has a lot of responsibilities facing it other than wasting money in police and court.

Contacted, Chief Ezekiel Izuchukwu, the Obi of Umuogbo community where the incident took place, said that he was not aware of the development.

When, however, the Obi called the chairman of the Umuogbo community vigilante group, the chairman of the group also denied having knowledge of the development.

When Anaedooline spoke with the elder sister of the victim, who gave her name as Happiness, she claimed that the chairman of the community vigilante group was informed of the development, only that they wanted to sweep the incident inside the carpet.

She called on relevant bodies to wade into the matter to ensure that both parties concerned get justice.
