OBIDIGWE, ONWUASO, OTHERS WIN ANAMBRA NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS

Results of last Saturday’s polls have started trickling into our news desk from the various Federal Constituencies and Senatorial districts.

Hon. Benjamin Chinedu Obidigwe of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, emerged the member elect for Anambra East and West Federal Constituency.

Obidigwe polled twenty-eight thousand, six hundred and fifty-seven votes (28,657), to emerge winner, beating Mr. Ernest Nwoye of PDP to a second position with nine thousand, five hundred and seventy four votes (9,574); even as Chief Paul Chukwuma of APC polled four thousand, nine hundred and twenty six votes (4,926).

That was the outcome of the House of Representatives election was announced at INEC Headquarters, Otuocha, by Prof. Josephat Ogbuagu, who was the returning officer for the federal constituency polls.

In another development, Chief Samuel Chinedu Onwuaso of PDP has been declared winner of last weekend’s House of Representatives election for Awka North and South Federal Constituency.

Chief Onwuaso garnered a total of thirty two thousand, five hundred and seventy nine votes (32,579).

His closest rival, Chief Anayo Nnebe of APGA, polled sixteen thousand, three hundred and seventeen votes (16,317).

The Returning Officer for the federal constituency, Prof. Virginia Ejiofor, who announced the result at Awka South Secretariat of INEC at Amawbia, declared Chief Onwuaso as duly elected.
