It said the decision to arrest the driver, Emmanuel Essien, was part of what it called the Federal Government’s fresh offensive against Onnoghen.

The coalition’s spokesperson, Imo Ugochinyere, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Friday.

Ugochinye said the arrest of Onnoghen’s driver was meant to manufacture fresh evidence against him when the government saw that the case instituted against him at the Code of Conduct Tribunal did not have merit.

He said the strategy was meant to ensure that Onnoghen resigned so that the government and the ruling party would take over the apex court.

He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the EFCC to stop harassing Onnoghen’s domestic workers in its quest to nail the suspended CJN.
