In The Case Of The Release Of The Detained Murderers Of Late Hon Anthony Igboka: Injury To One Is Injury To All

By Okoye Francis.

A call on the general public and the government of Anambra State to intervene.

It was on the 16th day of April 2019 at about 8:16pm that the President General Of Nimo Town Union was gruesomely murdered by unknown gunmen who shot at him sporadically at the Oye Nimo market square.

The ugly incident got the attention of His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano, the Executive Governor Of Anambra State who condemned the drastic act and pledged five million Naira bounty for whoever that will give good information that will enhance the arrest of the perpetrators.

It was on that note that the security apparatus in Anambra State embarked on a wide investigation into the killing of the Nimo PG. Arrests were made by the police through the help of the good and hardworking Governor Of Anambra State, subsequently, the general public applauded the security agencies and the Government Of Anambra State for their immediate actions towards ensuring that the killers of the Nimo PG are brought to book.

It is so sad that the Abagana magistrate court is now granting bail to the prime suspects(namely Ojeligbo, Stone and Pius Odili) that were arrested in connection to the killing of Late Hon Sir Frank Anthony Igboka without the security concluding their investigations as to their involvement in the gruesome assassination of the elder statesman.

It is indeed preposterous and totally unacceptable that the judiciary through the magistrate court releases the prime suspects in the killing of the revered President General thereby endangering the lives of the family members of the slain PG who are already planning for the burial of their deceased father and husband.

We call on the general public, civil society organizations, other non-governmental agencies, and the press to please look into the matter as the family is no longer happy with the way the whole matter is going.

The security of lives and property is a serious business and should be everybody’s affairs.
