We’ve 400 Witnesses Willing To Testify Against President – PDP Tells Tribunal

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Monday disclosed that it has over 400 witnesses willing to testify at the presidential election petition tribunal.

PDP’s lead counsel, Levi Uzeugwu made this disclosure while responding to a question by the tribunal chairman, Mohammed Garba, meant to help the tribunal arrange a timetable for the hearing of the substantive application.

Garba had asked the PDP counsel to state the number of witnesses they had so that the court would decide on the duration of time to be allowed for each party to cross examine the witnesses.

The opposition party is challenging the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja.

Speaking during today’s proceedings, Uzeugwu stated that if PDP presents 300 witnesses before the close of time allowed for the party to prove its case, they would review their position.

“We have over 400 witnesses. But if we are able to present up to 300 we will review our case,” Uzuegwu said.

The tribunal had earlier reserved ruling in the pre-hearing application by the former ruling party challenging the June 11 decision of the Court, which saw the withdrawal of a motion by the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The motion withdrawn by the APC on June 11 was one of two similar motions earlier filed by the party, challenging the validity of PDP’s petition.
