Anambra State Participates in Tokoyo Conference on African Development.

Anambra State is one of the 11 states that sent a delegation to the 7th edition of Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) going on in Yokohama, Japan.

The Conference attracted Africa’s best and brightest, including 60 African Heads of states. Nigerian President, Muhamadu Buhari presented a paper during the plenary session co-moderated by the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa and the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe.

Anambra’s delegation was led by the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners, Mr Mark Okoye. He was accompanied by Mr Jide Ikeako, Managing Director/CEO of Anambra Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA) and Mr James Eze, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Willie Obiano.

The Conference attracted leading development thinkers and change agents in Africa. Prominent among the Nigerian delegation to the conference are Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, former Minister of Finance and Chair of Gavi Vaccine Fund, Mr Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Tony Elumelu Foundation and Dr Akinwunmi Adesina, President of African Development Bank.

The Conference explores themes on Africa’s development and vehicles through which Africa’s development goals can be achieved.
