Ex-Imo Assembly Clerk, Duru Accused Of N5m Fraud And Forgery

Former Clerk, Imo State House of Assembly, (IMHA), Chief Chris Duru is alleged to have converted N5 Million belonging to the House to personal use.

Anaedoonline.com discovered that the alleged looted money was approved for the procurement of office equipment for the Chambers but disappeared abruptly under Chris Duru as Clerk.

The former clerk who was removed in a controversial manner over an allegation that he forged his age to enable him to continue to function as Clerk when he would have long retired from Civil Service.

Apart from the alleged mismanaged funds, Chief Duru was accused of illegally reposting and sacking some workers in the Assembly, who were opposed to his wrongdoings.

In his reaction, the former clerk denied the allegations, saying that his removal as a clerk was championed by his enemies who were not comfortable with him.
While describing the allegations that he forged his age as baseless, further revealed that aside the speculation, he would be retiring from service in August 2020.

Accusing some top management staff of the Assembly of engineering his downfall, boasted that during his time as clerk, he delivered his functions with utmost diligence, saying that committee set up to investigate him had long declared him innocent of the whole allegations, and called on his detractors to bury their faces in shame.
