COOU Holds Second Memorial Lecture For Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (Photos)

The second Annual memorial lecture for Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was held at the Sen Ben Nwazojie Law Auditorium at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Igbariam Campus(Anambra State University), yesterday, 4th November 2019.

The event which was chaired by Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In his opening remarks, he thanked the university for continuing and sustaining the memorial lecture. He also spoke about some of the problems Ndigbo is facing in Nigeria and offered probable solutions.

The Guest speaker for the event was Prof Kingsley Moghalu who spoke on the Theme: Ndigbo in contemporary Nigerian Politics: Problems, Prospects, and the way Forward. He addressed the issue of a Nigerian president of Igbo descent come 2023 and issues concerning the civil war, see full details here.

The event was highly attended by high profile Igbo leaders and traditional leaders in the state. The Governor of Anambra state Chief Willie Obiano was represented by the deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, also present is Chief Bianca Ojukwu, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Governor of Enugu State was represented by Prof Simon Uchenna secretary of state, Igwe K. O. N Orizu(Igwe Nnewi), Igwe Sir Bennet Izuchukwu, Hon. Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, Sir Ugochukwu Udemezue, and many more.

An award of Excellence was given to three sons of the Igbo community, they are, Hon Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu

Amb. Bianca thanked everyone who joined them for the lecture and for honouring the late warlord. She expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love for Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu since his death, she says this is a reminder that he lives on.
