The Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State on Budget Monitoring and Efficiency, Hon. Sir Ogbuefi Melie Onyejepu, has assured of the state government’s commitment towards the speedy completion of Okpunoeze/Umeojiligwe of Uruagu Nnewi road.
Hon. Melie Onyejepu, said this during the weekend while addressing the leadership of Uruagu Nnewi Community after an inspection tour of the ongoing reconstruction of the drainage channel of the road.

The Governor’s aide who expressed the determination of the Governor Obiano-led administration to ensure that the roads are in good shape noted that the contractor has since been mobilized back to the site.
According to Hon. Melie Onyejepu, he said that the road was delayed due to the rain, the redesigning of the drainage channel and the increasing of the bearing strength on the road pavement.

He assured that the state government is committed to completing the road before raining season.
Speaking on behalf of the Community, a stakeholder in Uruagu Nnewi, Prof. Ben. Aghazu, commended the efforts of the state government towards the construction of the road, he promised that the community will give the construction company the needed support.
According to him, in his personal capacity, he has provided a place of residence for the workers to ensure their availability in the site.

He also used the opportunity to commend Hon. Melie Onyejepu for his efforts in ensuring that the state government intervened in 100-Foot Road, Nnewi.
Speaking also, Chief Agu Okonkwo, praised the efforts of Hon. Melie Onyejepu for his efforts in making sure that the road continues to gain government’s attention, he said that the community was worried because the sand earlier coated on the road was posing health challenges to residents of the community.
For the President General of Uruagu Community, Chief Charles Nwoye said that though the community was grateful for the intervention by the state government, there is a need to ensure the competitiveness of the road before the rainy season.

He also pleaded that the state government should look into the poor state of roads in Uruagu, saying that Uruagu has the worst network of roads in Nnewi.
