House Reject Move To Evacuate Nigerians In China Over Coronavirus

The House of Representatives on Tuesday rejected a motion to evacuate Nigerians from China following the outbreak of deadly Coronavirus.

This is coming following some reports that there are Nigerians who are stranded in Wuhan, China.

It was gathered that the motion to evacuate Nigerians was raised by Hon. Benjamin Okezie.

However, lawmakers who voted massively against the motion maintained that China has better facilities to handle the situation than Nigeria.

The enormous rejection of the motion led to rowdiness in the House. Efforts by Speaker of the House, Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila to calm the lawmakers and allow Mr. Okezie to move his motion was unsuccessful.

Two other sponsors of the bill who were meant to support the motion declined to second the motion to be moved.
